June 2014 - Dr. Jeff Travis of Animal Medical Center of Panola
donates thousands of dollars worth of flea control
products to O'Malley PET - Thank you to Dr. Travis and Office Manager Jennifer Harris for getting us these needed supplies. Prior to getting
these generous donations, our flea control was limited to time in clinic only -- using Capstar which has no residual activity. Now
we can protect our surgery patients from fleas for 30 days, as long as supplies last. We are blessed.
6-5-14 - KTRE - E. Texans petition rule stopping animal shelters
from giving vaccinations.
6-4-14 - O'Malley PET completes it's 500th surgery!!
5-24-14 - OMPET donates surgery lights to Humane Society of North
Texas - Humane Society of North Texas is opening a new
surgery suite that will be run by their new shelter veterinarian Dr. Shawn Ashley, formerly of the SPCA of Texas. When we
purchased cages from Dr. Doug Posey of Corpus Christi last year using the ASPCA Grant Funds,
he threw in the surgery lights as well. We don't need them, so we are passing them on to a shelter that does.
Thank you Dr. Posey!
5-20-14 - Misty Mandujano Joins O'Malley
PET - Misty is our new veterinary assistant who will be answering the phone, and helping
with trapping, intakes and surgery.
5-3-14 - OMPET Spring Plant Sale - Volunteer Extraordinaire Brenda Hayter has spent all winter in the green house,
preparing hundreds and hundreds of plants for our first Spring Plant Sale. Brenda has prepared for us Wisteria, Confederate Rose
hibiscus, Angel Trumpets, Redbud trees, Carolina Jasmine, Native Red Maple, Blackberry Lily, Swamp Spider Lilies, Double and Triple
Orange Day lilies, Winter Jasmine, Variegated Sweetflag, Mexican Hats, Blue Crown Passion Flowers, Beggar's Tickseed, Cannas, Coral
Bean plant, Elephant Ears, Red Turk's Cap, Red Buckeye, and more. Brenda has also made gorgeous garden water bowls of concrete,
molded over genuine plant leaves (collard greens, lotus leaves, etc). Carolyn Spears has also donated native Crinum Lilly bulbs,
which sometimes sell for upwards of $20 each. Jan Greer donated lemon balm and tomato plants from Greer Farm. The 2014 Plant
Sale generated more than $2000 for O'Malley PET. Jennifer Bryant, the Bryant kids Hannah and Gabriel, and Betty Yuracko
worked especially hard on the plant sale. Well done!
May 2014 - Thank you to Joe Knobloch and Judy Boynton, two Nacogdoches Pharmacists who are
among our favorite
benefactors. They contribute to the Rex and Sammy Fund frequently and generously. Their donations
amounted to many thousands of dollars over the years. Thank you!
